RI ACEP is the premier organization for practicing emergency medicine physicians in Rhode Island. RI ACEP is your state advocate for emergency medicine. RI ACEP works for the highest principles of our specialty for the benefit of our physicians and our patients together. RI ACEP is your best means of addressing the issues we all face from the holding of psychiatric inpatients, to ED overcrowding, to liability reform just to name a few. We are a democratic, non-profit organization. The membership nominates and elects the Officers and Board of Directors.
The Chapter serves the membership and specialty of emergency medicine in Rhode Island through:
- Legislative advocacy
- Continuing medical education opportunities
- Leadership development
- Representation with the Rhode Island Medical Society (RIMS) and other organizations
- Representation in state government agencies and initiatives
- Contact with insurers
- Reward and recognition
- Local networking opportunities
- Links to national ACEP
Formed in 1971, RI ACEP is one of the country’s oldest chapters of national ACEP. We are a diverse group of practicing emergency physicians, including academicians, private practice, large and small groups, fee-for-service, not-for-profit, individual practitioners, hospital-employed, boarded and non-boarded, young and older, EM residents, and enthusiastic medical students. We represent emergency physicians from all political persuasions. This diversity strengthens our organization’s efforts to pursue our goals.
All meetings are open to the membership and active participation is highly encouraged. To find out how you can be involved, contact one of our Board members or our Executive Director, Ali Walz.
